Little rainbows

This family is one that is especially dear to my heart. I have met Kayleigh and Alex at a time no parent should ever had to go through. See, in December 2013 I was called in my Now I Lay me Down To Sleep volunteer photographer capacity to offer them the ultimate gift. Capturing images of their beautiful Anya who passed unexpectedly shortly after birth. I spent precious moment with them and a few family members, capturing as many memories and details as I could.

Fast forward to 2017, Kayleigh reached out to me to ask if I would take photos of her family. They now had 2 beautiful healthy children, and I was so happy for them. So we scheduled a session in their backyard and we had an awesome time. Before I left they showed me the album they had made with the images of little Anya, and it brought tears to my eyes, as we rarely get to see what our NILMDTS families do with their images, and the impact it has on them and their grieving process. It was so beautiful to also see the kids know who their big sister was, and that she was a 100% part of this loving family.

When Kayleigh contacted me again this past summer to refresh their portraits I was again over the moon excited to get to see her and Alex, but also to see how much the little ones had grown. We decided to do our session at the Parc des Cèdres in Aylmer because it is such a beautiful place with so many different settings for photos. When Yves and I lived right by that parc a few years ago it was our favorite place to go for an evening walk in the summer. So we knew it would make our session with them perfect.

The kids played, ran, threw rocks in the river, and we even made little rainbows on the rocks playing with my prism while thinking about Anya. The family was whole.

Kayleigh and Alex, thank you so much for your continued trust in me. You hold a very special place in my heart and I am honored to consider you friends <3
